Dear Santa...

Dear Santa,

This year I've been busy!

Last Thursday I had a shoot-out with rival gang lords on the 5 near LA (-76 points). Last week I ruled Iran as a kind and benevolent dictator (700 points). Last Tuesday I gave [livejournal.com profile] flatcandy a Dutch Oven (-10 points). In April I helped [livejournal.com profile] lunayoshi hide a body (-173 points). In June I pulled over and changed [livejournal.com profile] noo_da_puppi's flat tire (15 points).

Overall, I've been nice (456 points). For Christmas I deserve a Nintendo Wii!

Sincerely,
pseudo_parcel

Taking a break between math reviews. I don't even REMEMBER some of this stuff, but it won't matter, because I don't think I'll be passing this math class this time around. I pretty much have to ace this final, which I don't think is going to happen.

I will try my hardest. And I should get the cards I promised out by tomorrow. Anybody else want a card, then that post is here! They won't be homemade, sorry, but I'll write a big long note in it!

I don't even know anything about battling, so that doesn't really enter into my choices )

So some friends from work invited me to the midnight showing of Harry Potter last night, which explains why I'm so wiped out today. I don't know a whole lot about Harry Potter because I'd never seen the movies...or read the books. So I won't be talking too much about the movie itself because I don't know what constitutes a spoiler here.

I do want to talk about the action scenes though, mainly because every single action scene looked like this: )

It was still fun to go, even though I had no idea what was going on.

List 10 songs you are into right now. No matter what the genre, whether they have words, or even if they're not any good, but they must be songs you're really enjoying now. Post these instructions in your journal along with your 10 songs.

I got nothin for this one. The only comments I've got for them are 'this song is awesome' so I won't bother )

Dooon't want to do math homework, but I've got to do good on this next exam so I guess I have to. :/

Sorry I've been ignoring you internet, but I've just kind of been in that state where I don't feel like I can devote any real attention to it. I feel bad, but there's not much I can do about it...

So, to hold myself over until I do, here's a meme I done stole from [livejournal.com profile] shinyseaking.

Meg went to all that trouble sooooo... )

The "What I've always wanted to tell you" Meme

Not a huge amount of time; I've got a lot to finish before class. I do want to note that taking care of these three pets is akin to baby-sitting the Three Stooges.

It seems I didn't understand how much I love doing roleplaying memes until I started to stop roleplaying.

Seriously, even I didn't know how much I loved roleplay-based memes. It's a powerful, heady love, of which the ferocity scares even me.

I guess I will have to do a 30-day gaming meme instead. Rather image heavy )

Definitive proof that I am dull )

Nothing much else to say. Started playing Jet Grind Radio last night and I alllllmost don't completely suck at it. Am seriously embarrassed about a schedule mix-up at school. Thinking of doing a Nuzlocke run in Pearl (because I don't have enough to do apparently) and mostly just been living.

1. Grab a book near you.
2. Open the book to page 123.
3. Find the fifth sentence.
4. Post the text of the next 3 sentences on your blog along with these instructions.
5. Don’t you dare dig for that "cool" or "intellectual" book in your closet! I know you were thinking about it! Just pick up whatever is closest.

"Bloated with confit de canard and vin de pays I lay awake for some time in my room, scanning the whitewashed ceiling for spiders, while out in the rain woodland creatures did shrill and gastly things to one another. It was good to have proper pillows again after eleven nights spent with my head cricked painfully against the sort of thing you would expect Gladiators to hit each other with, but I still couldn't sleep. The day's revelations had been almost uniformly troubling."

Still working along. Trying to write five more pages before tomorrow. Doot de doot. Signing up for a due date in the first two weeks is a big Never Again.

first impressions

Worried about my cat. He came in this morning with a wound on his tail so deep I could see the bone. I couldn't bandage him up with what I had, and I was trying to keep him inside but he snuck out when I let the dog in.

Now I have to fret about that stupid cat. And that's all I've been doing all day. I need something do keep my mind off it because there isn't that much I can do. I slept through my math class, so it was already a bad day too.

My classes are going to wipe me out. Completely. I have maybe three hours of free/homework/sit-down time on Mondays and Wednesdays between classes and work. Not impossible, but going to be painful. The fact that it's math and chem isn't going to help any.

Man, I should roleplay or do homework or something. It'd help me not worry about my cat.

"Want 100 free songs from local artists at West Fest this year?"

"Do I!"

"Great! 100 individual songs to download one by one! For you!"

Augh. They aren't even all MP3s what is this. There had better be something really good in here.

Day 04 – Your music

Eh, I like so much stuff it might just be easier to list a selection of bands: Tyrants in Therapy, Kaizer's Orchestra, Freezepop, Ditty Bops, Mika, Lemon Demon, Gogol Bordello, Grand Island, They Might Be Giants, The Go! Team, Malajube, The Futureheads…

Yeah, my tastes in music are a little eclectic. But good music is good music.

Day 05 – Your definition of love

I think the details of love differs between sets of people, but mostly I think it's a connection based out of mutual understanding, respect, and compassion. I don’t believe in love at first sight; it's not magical, and there's no such thing as a perfect relationship, and love gets built up, changes, and has to be maintained over time.

But I don't think it's for suckers, or naïve people, or fools. I think people have to be mature enough to find out what it means for them. As for what it is to me…I'm still trying to figure that out, to be honest.

Day 02 – Your first love

Ahhh...not a whole lot of stuff to say about this. My dating life has either been disastrous or non-existent. I've not really had a person I could consider my "first love." Boys took to asking me out on dates as a prank in junior high, and I've been stood up on the first date by the only one who asked me sincerely.

...I get slightly ragey when I think of it so....moving on.

Day 03 – Your parents

My parents are Brian and Barbara-Sue (though she goes by Sue), and they've been together about...oh 30 years, or so. They used to run a crafting business together but when that went under my dad got a job as a stockboy and my mom works at a high school.

Leaving out a lot of TMI details, my parents are more emotionally intimate then they are physically intimate (they sleep in different rooms, just as an example). They both make a point to spend a lot of time with us. They're really supportive of my sister and I, and really really wanted us to live our own lives and have our own interests. I don't ever recall hearing from them that I "couldn't" do something, no matter what I wanted to do.

I...kinda hate saying that because I know not everyone on my flist got to have that kind of privilege with their parents. In that regard, I consider myself very lucky.

Didn't wanna do no yes/no meme. I wanted to do this one!

Day 01 - Introduce yourself
My name is Amanda Lockie. Most people on the internet call me Parcel. It doesn't really matter to me which one anyone calls me. I'm aware my net handle is kind of odd, but at least I'll never be mistaken for anyone else. I live in Fort Collins, CO, where I've lived most of my life and am a native Coloradoan. I'm currently working at the public library and am attending community college after which I hope to transfer to a four year.

The rest of the meme )

I write like
Raymond Chandler

I Write Like by Mémoires, Mac journal software. Analyze your writing!

And then I tried again and got

I write like
Stephen King

I Write Like by Mémoires, Mac journal software. Analyze your writing!

I got Steven King the next three times. So...yeah.

OK so...why are my journal tags not popping up as I type them anymore. What'd I do?

ETA: Oh, yeah. Forgot to check my style of prose:

I write like
J. K. Rowling

I Write Like by Mémoires, Mac journal software. Analyze your writing!

Geeze...It's been so long since I've read anything by Rowling, I have no idea how accurate this is...
